Rock Cottage’s postcode is TR26 2EA. Take the A30 to within 4 miles of St Ives then the A3074. Continue through Lelant and Carbis Bay and go straight across a mini-roundabout for the Tesco store. At this point you are one mile from Rock Cottage, and have 2 options :
1) Drive to the property and unload (best if you have a lot of luggage)
If you wish to do this, about 3/4 of a mile after that Tesco* roundabout you will see the a smart development of new apartments on your right. Slow right down and when the road bears round turn right into Primrose Valley, immediately before the 4 black pavement posts. This is a steep hill down to the railway bridge, underneath which you must turn left (or you’ll be on the beach !) From here it’s 250 yards straight ahead to Rock Cottage. Pull in by the side of the road at the Pedn Olva Hotel to unload, and collect the parking permit, which will be on the dining table as you enter the property.
After you have finished unloading drive down the The Warren and turn left at the imposing granite building, up Skidden Hill. At the top it’s left again and in 30 yards take another left down into Station Road, which leads into the car park. The reserved spaces are marked in yellow at the far end of the car park. Your space no. 66 faces the train platform.
* St Ives has plenty of very good food shops within easy walking distance of Rock Cottage but that Tesco store is a good place to ‘stock up’ as you arrive – and you can drive the goods here !
2) Drive to the Railway Station car park (a good option if you have relatively little luggage)
Instead of turning into Primrose Valley continue straight ahead past the St Ives Harbour Hotel and Spa. On no account be diverted left at the junction outside the hotel. In 150 yards, at the Bus Station/Harbour View turn very sharp right into Station Road. In 40 yards you will see steps as the road bears round into the Station Car Park. Stop here, and (leaving one of the party with the car) go down these steps, taking some luggage. At the bottom of the steps turn left and Rock Cottage is 20 yards on the left. Collect the parking permit, which will be on the dining table as you enter the property and return to park in space no. 66 which faces the train platform.
By Train
Wherever you are coming from you will arrive on a train bound for the Penzance terminus. Get off one stop before this at St Erth and cross over the bridge to Platform 3, where you take the pretty branch line to St Ives. This journey takes about 15 minutes, calling at Lelant and Carbis Bay. As you leave the platform at St Ives station look towards the sea and to the right you will see a gap for a flight of steps leading down to The Warren. Go down these, through the granite posts (Warren Gate) and continue for another 100 yards. Rock Cottage is on your left, opposite the Pedn Olva Hotel.
By Bus or Coach
When you arrive at The Malakoff (St Ives Bus Station) walk down the slope towards the sea (Station Road) and in 30 yards you will see steps as the road bears round into the Station Car Park. Go down these steps as if to Pedn Olva Hotel, and you will see Rock Cottage on the left.
You will able to get into Rock Cottage from 2 p.m. on arrival day but the parking permit will be available by 10.30 a.m. We are very happy to take custody of your belongings at any time after 10.30 a.m. so you can start enjoying your holiday as soon as you arrive.
